Spravato® Treatment for Depression

Discover a Breakthrough Treatment for Depression

At A Helping Hand, Inc., we are proud to offer Spravato®, an FDA-approved nasal spray medication for adults with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) or depressive symptoms accompanied by suicidal thoughts or behaviors. This cutting-edge therapy is available only in certified treatment centers like ours and must be administered under the supervision of a qualified healthcare provider.

Unlike traditional antidepressants that take weeks to work and often fail to provide relief for many individuals, Spravato® targets a different pathway in the brain—offering rapid improvement in symptoms for those who have tried other treatments without success.

What Is Spravato®?

Spravato® (esketamine) CIII nasal spray is derived from ketamine, a well-established anesthetic. It is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to be used in conjunction with an oral antidepressant for the treatment of:

  • Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD) in adults who have not responded adequately to at least two other antidepressant treatments.

  • Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) with acute suicidal ideation or behavior.

This treatment is not for use as a first-line therapy and should be administered only under the direct care of a trained clinician in a Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS)-certified facility.

Why Spravato®?

For many individuals living with treatment-resistant depression, traditional oral antidepressants simply aren’t enough. Spravato® (esketamine) represents a powerful new option—FDA-approved and designed specifically for adults who haven’t found relief with other medications.

Unlike typical antidepressants that can take weeks to show effects, Spravato® works on a different brain pathway, targeting NMDA receptors to help rapidly reduce symptoms of depression. Most patients experience improvements in mood, energy, and emotional clarity within the first few weeks.

What Makes Spravato® Different?

  • Fast-acting relief compared to conventional antidepressants

  • Administered in-office under clinical supervision for safety and monitoring

  • Backed by extensive clinical trials and FDA approval

  • Ideal for adults who have tried at least two or more antidepressants without success

  • Shown to reduce suicidal ideation in some patients

At A Helping Hand Inc., we offer Spravato® as part of our commitment to innovative, evidence-based psychiatric care. We’re proud to stay at the forefront of treatment options for our patients—and Spravato® is one of the most promising breakthroughs in depression care available today.

How Does Spravato® Work?

Spravato® acts on the glutamate system in the brain, which is believed to play a critical role in mood regulation and neural plasticity. By blocking the NMDA receptor, Spravato® helps restore synaptic connections in brain regions responsible for mood and emotional regulation.

This mechanism provides a rapid reduction in depressive symptoms, often within hours or days—especially valuable for patients experiencing a depressive crisis.
